Why Pedal for Pat? To raise awareness, to honor her and those who battle this disease, and to express my gratefulness in playing a small part to help Coach Summitt with what was perhaps her most important endeavor—the Pat Summitt Foundation.

I am now a teacher and coach, which is a second (or third) career for me. I was a police officer for 18 years, and I retired from the military in 2014 after a combined 23 years of service in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. I spent my first few years in education as the athletic director at our school. I’ve spent the last five years teaching and coaching girls high school basketball. Being a head coach has been my privilege and, quite frankly, one of the most challenging and rewarding opportunities I have ever been given.

My wife of 35 years, Renae, is also a teacher. Our son and daughter are high school teachers and coaches in Nebraska. I consider it an honor to combine raising awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer's with participation in an event dedicated to THE legend in women’s basketball, Pat Summitt. We will win.

I am an ol’ runner turned triathlete. I am thankful for good health. I am grateful to be able to ride my bike and work to meet this challenge. Please join us in beating this disease. We got this!

Together We Will Win!
